Hi. I’m Ben.
Take a minute to know a few things about me.
Hi, I’m Ben. I’m a lot of things- a husband and father, a graphic designer, an educator, a home renovator, and a fan of superheroes.
My family is my life. My wife and I, with our 6 kiddos, love exploring the world around us. Our home is chaos- but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Hey, let’s get social!

EDUCATION
When I was working on my BA, I tried bounced around with different majors. Would you believe I went from being a music major to international business? Ha. I finally gave the Communication Department at BYU-Idaho a try and felt immediately like I was in the right place.
I love the communication field and how it makes the world a better place. Interpersonal communication is probably my favorite area to study, although I also love looking at family and media communication too.
Earned Degrees:
BA in Communication, BYU-Idaho
MA in Communication & Leadership, Gonzaga University
PhD in Communication, Regent University (Dec 2021)

GRAPHIC AND WEB DESIGNER
Early on in my life I fell in love with visual communication. I love taking specific messages and helping them find life in visual forms like print, video, and digital formats.
I remember one day a friend introduced himself as a graphic designer and I nearly feell off my chair with envy. I decided to make that dream a reality and started my own graphic design business, DesignWire. I have run my business since 2012 and love working with clients around the world. Most of my work is with small business, non-profits, and political campaigns.

EDUCATOR
When I was young I never knew what I wanted to do when I grew up- all I knew was that I wanted to make the world a better place. As I went through my education and realized the profound impact that my teachers had on me, I decided education was the field for me. I’ve been in the education field since 2013 and haven’t turned back.
After teaching for several years at BYU-Idaho, I taught at Wesley College for several years. I then moved to Washington State University where I now enjoy teaching students visual communication. I recently won the Oaks Academic Technology Award and continue to look for ways to innovate in my classrooms.
There are a wide range of courses I’ve taught. Some of my favorites are:
– Interpersonal Communication
– Intro, intermediate, and advanced graphic design
– Intro to Mass Media/History of Communication
– Advertising Strategies and Techniques
– Web Design & Development
